Work Conditioning
Build the strength and resilience your role demands.
Workers new to manual handling roles or transitioning into more physically demanding ones — face a higher risk of soft tissue and repetitive strain injury while their bodies adapt.
Our work conditioning program gradually builds a worker’s strength and tolerance to physical load so they’re ready for the demands of their role.

What’s included

A six-session program run over 6–12 weeks

Strength and functional movement measured at the start and end of the program

Exercise programs issued and progress tracked across sessions

A recommendation on readiness for heavier or more demanding roles
A Typical Session
Each session measures the participant’s strength and functional movement, issues or adjusts their exercise program, checks in on any difficulties they’re facing, and tracks progress against their baseline. At the end of the six sessions, we re-measure and provide a clear recommendation on next steps.
Pairs well with Task Analysis — when the physical demands of a role are documented, we can target conditioning to exactly what that job requires.
The Benefits
- Support for workers struggling to adapt to the physical demands of their job
- Improved employee retention
- Decreased absenteeism
- Teaches self-management skills for aches & pains
In a 152-day pilot across three meat-processing sites (83 participants from a workforce of 3,196), Work Conditioning participants saw an 83% reduction in termination and a 14% reduction in absenteeism compared to non-participants.

We've seen a huge improvement in outcomes for our workforce by making WHA's services freely available to all and getting in early following an injury and applying effective treatment/rehabilitation.
