Workplace Health Provider Jeremy Balbin

Meet a Provider

Jeremy Balbin, Victoria

What do you like most about your job?

I love helping people stay fit and healthy at work. This ranges from helping people be as comfortable as possible while working, free of aches and pains, to preventing future injuries and minimising days lost. Healthy workers make for a better and happier workplace and ultimately a better product.

What does a typical day look like for you?

A typical workday includes treating a variety of injuries and issues, performing pre-employment screenings and whatever else the client needs. I also work closely with clients to make sure they are maximising our services and workers are being looked after. Outside of work, I am spending time with my wife, 1-year-old daughter and dog.

What is the most common piece of advice you give to clients?

Look after your body. You only have one and you can’t replace it. Make sure you do the right things at work to minimise the risk of injury and make sure you do your maintenance outside of work. This includes movement exercises (such as stretching), fitness and strength exercises.

How can clients get the most out of their injury prevention and management strategies?

One of the most important things, if not the most important, is communication. If there isn’t good communication with the provider, the contact, supervisors and workers, a lot of things may be missed and recommendations may not be taken on board. When everyone is in sync with each other, you get much better and faster outcomes with patients.
