Nicola Ross, a dedicated Work Healthy Australia provider and volunteer surf lifesaver in South Australia, brings her passion for community wellbeing from the clinic to the coastline.
I love being able to provide immediate care right where it’s needed. Seeing someone improve on the spot and knowing I helped prevent a minor injury from becoming something serious is incredibly rewarding.
Movement is medicine. Exercise is the only ‘medication’ that creates change in a person’s physical, emotional, and mental state.
I completely understand feeling unsure – that’s normal. Even if it’s something small, like a sore muscle or tightness that won’t go away, it’s worth checking out. A quick conversation could save you from a bigger issue later on. Early attention often means faster healing, fewer disruptions to your day, and better long-term outcomes. My goal is to support you, keep you feeling your best, and help you stay on the job safely.
I stay healthy with regular exercise and a well-balanced diet. With three active children, getting enough quality sleep is also a priority. Our bodies do their best recovery while we are asleep, so after a busy day, relaxing and getting to bed early is super important for me.
My family and I are heavily involved in surf lifesaving, swimming and community activities. It has a big impact on our health and wellbeing, as well as on the wider community. I love teaching surf safety and education to multicultural groups and Indigenous youth. It’s always so much fun and rewarding to see people learning to enjoy the beach and water activities safely.
