Meet a Provider

Julian Abela, Queensland Workplace Health Provider

Headshot of Julian Abela

What do you like most about your job?

My favourite aspect of my job is that I get to provide healthcare to those who may not usually have access to various services. We can be the first line in getting people feeling better and keeping them healthy while at work. I also enjoy meeting people from all walks of life.

What would you say to someone who is unsure about whether they should come and see you for treatment or advice?

We are here to help and support you. Whether your concerns are great or just minor, our goals are to assist your function and restore your health. That may be in the form of advice or treatment/exercise rehabilitation.

How can workplaces get the most out of you?

I am a visual learner, get me out on the floor to see the movement patterns and biomechanics of the workers. This enables me to have a greater understanding of their demands, and provide a specific approach to their recovery.

How do you stay healthy?

To stay healthy you will find me in the gym, or going on walks along the Brisbane river. These keep me physically fit, but they also help me de-stress and improve my mental health. I have recently taken up squash, which has been quite challenging but also very fun.
